Carla Harrison
is the Day School Director. Mrs. Harrison is very excited to be a part of the Educational Ministry Team at EEDS! A native of Norfolk, she is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Speech Communication. She came to EEDS six years ago after serving 19 years as the Director and Pre-K Four-Year Old teacher in another local preschool. She is passionate that a child's first school experience should be positive where the child feels loved, successful, engaged, and that "school is a good place to be."
Mrs. Harrison and her husband have two married daughters, three grandchildren, and 3 Golden Retriever granddogs. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, and entertaining family and friends in her home.  She is looking forward to partnering with you in the education of your preschooler.

Athena Lovette

is returning to EEDS for a sixth year.  She transitioned to the office last year from the Two-Year Old class and will assist all the teachers as a Classroom Assistant throughout the school day.

Mrs. Lovette lives in Suffolk, has two adult children, one daughter in High School and a new granddaughter. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends, family and a good book.

Amy Stovall

teaches one of our M-F Four Year Old Pre-K Classes. Mrs. Stovall joins EEDS with forty years of experience working with young children.  She attended college at the University of Missouri in Columbia and received her degree in Child Psychology and Early Childhood Education. She came to Virginia Beach when she graduated and never left! She taught both Pre-K and Kindergarten at a school in Virginia Beach before leaving to raise her children. Additionally, she conducted a licensed childcare out of her home and cared for 12 children. Two years ago she returned to teaching outside of her home and comes to EEDS this year from a local Elementary school.

 

Married to her husband, Tom, for almost 33 years she has four sons and is very excited to be at EEDS.

Elena Eaken

teaches one of our M-F Four-Year-Old Pre-K classes. Mrs. Eaken is an Ohio native where she earned her B.A. in communications from Mount Union College. She has also studied Elementary Education at Virginia Wesleyan College where she earned her Pre-K - 6th Teaching Credentials (with a Meritorious Teacher designation) and she also taught four-year-olds at a local preschool.  This is her sixth year teaching at EEDS.

Mrs. Eaken has been married to her husband, Shawn, and living in Chesapeake for 19 years. She has three children ( two boys and one girl- ages 16, 11 & 9 ), two dogs and one cat. In her free time, she serves on her local PTA board, volunteers with her children's Scout troop/pack, enjoys reading and spending time with her family. 

Cherie Zorn

is a Monday-Friday Three-Year Old teacher. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Indiana Wesleyan University.  This is her third year teaching at EEDS. Cherie has over 19 years of experience in education and childcare. She is a Navy wife and mother of 4.  In her spare time she enjoys hiking and camping with her family.

Autumn Bezeau

comes to EEDS this year from another local preschool and will be teaching a Monday-Friday Three-Year Old class. Part of a military family, Ms. Bezeau (Bea-zoo) moved every three or four years throughout her childhood. As an adult she has traveled both in the United States and internationally where she has taught in various camps and schools. Her educational background includes a Master of Science in Sport Science and a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership. One of the great joys in her life is coaching 2-5 year old's soccer! She is currently working on a degree in Early Childhood Education through the GI Bill (Army-4 years) and is beyond excited to teach three year old students!

Kristen Blake

served EEDS as a Substitute Teacher two years ago, then as a Two-Year Old teacher and last year transitioned to the Lead Teacher position in the MWF Three-Year Old class.  She returns to that position this year. A graduate of Towson University, Mrs. Blake returned to the work force after her youngest son left for college. Her children attended EEDS when they were preschool age.

Married to a retired Navy pilot, she has three grown sons and a chocolate Labrador. In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Emily Jones
is teaching one of the Monday, Wednesday, Friday Two-Year Old Classes.  This is her third year at EEDS. She grew up south of Baltimore and has a degree in Early Childhood Education from Salisbury University.  Her professional experience includes developing and running a Preschool Program at a gymnastics studio and as a Student Teacher/Intern at Princess Anne Elementary School.  Emily coached gymnastics at a local studio and worked with their pre-competitive and competitive teams.  Previously, she coached gymnastics in Maryland for seven years.
She moved to Virginia four years ago to be with her now husband.  Emily has come back to teaching after the birth of her daughter, who is three years old and recently added a son to their family.
 She enjoys spending her time on the beach with her family and their dog.

Kali Butler

joined the staff of EEDS last year as the Monday-Friday Two-Year Old Assistant teacher. This year Mrs. K. will be the Lead Teacher in the M-F Two-Year Old class.  Some of her students will attend M-F, some will attend on MWF, and some on Tu/Th.  There is a maximum of 10 children on any day. A former resident of Virginia Beach, she returned to the area following her husband's military transfer.  Mrs. K. was excited to return as a staff member.  Both of her children were students at EEDS.

Mrs. K. enjoys hiking, spending time with her family and going to the beach.

Emily Weeks

will be the Teaching Assistant in the Two-Year Old classes. This will be her first year at EEDS. She has experience working with children as a Daycare Teaching Assistant and nanny since 2019. She enjoys volunteering at her church, teaching preschoolers and working in the church nursery. Ms. Weeks is currently in school working toward a degree in Early Childhood Development. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her fiance and his sweet 5 year old son, going to the beach, reading, trips to the coffee shop and writing. 

Psalm 127:3 says, "Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a reward from him." That's why it is her goal that children in her care feel confident, valued, safe and respected.
