is our Day School Director. Mrs. Harrison is very excited to be a part of the Educational Ministry Team at EEDS! She has been married to her husband Mitchell for 39 years and they are the parents of two married daughters and 3 golden retriever grand-dogs.
Mrs. Harrison is a native of Norfolk, VA and a graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Speech Communication. After graduation and marriage, she and her husband lived in New Orleans and North Carolina before moving to Chesapeake in 1988. Over the last 19 years, Mrs. Harrison has served as Director and Pre-K teacher at a local preschool. She is passionate that a child’s first school experience should be a positive one where the child feels loved, successful, engaged and that “school is a good place to be.”
In her spare time, Mrs. Harrison enjoys gardening, traveling, cooking and entertaining family and friends in her home. She is looking forward to partnering with you in the education of your preschooler.
is our Administrative Assistant. She is originally from Milwaukee, WI. She has a CDA (Child Development Associates) in Early Childhood Education and over 20 years of experience in the early childhood development field. Most recently she worked as an NAFCC observation specialist and for two years at EEDS as the Five-Day-Three's teacher. Mrs. Mack-Thorn is married to her high school sweetheart and they have three children. Two are daughters-one that is married and currently resides in Alaska and her oldest lives in Richmond, Virginia. Their son attends Tidewater Community College. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking with her husband, volunteering in the community and spending time surrounded by her family and friends.
teaches our MWF Four-Year-Old class. This is her third year at EEDS. She has her CDA (Child Development Associates) in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Rictor has previously worked with at-risk children teaching at Early Adventures and Early Discoveries in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. She is married with one child and two fur babies. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, photography, crafts, and spending time with family and friends.
teaches one of our M-F Four-Year-Old classes. Mrs. Atkinson is originally from Texas and has lived in Chesapeake, VA for the last twenty-five years. She studied at The University of Texas and Western Washington University where she received a B.A. in Elementary Education. She has completed post-graduate work in the areas of speech, language development and reading. Mrs. Atkinson has experience teaching preschool through fourth grade. Most recently, she served for 14 years as the lead three-year-old teacher at a local preschool.
Mrs. Atkinson has been married to her husband, Gary, for 39 years. They settled in the Hampton Roads area after he retired from his career as a naval aviator. They have two married daughters and three young grand-daughters. In addition, Mrs. Atkinson is a nationally rated gymnastics judge for USA Gymnastics. When not teaching or judging gymnastics, she enjoys spending time with her family in the Catskill Mountains.
teaches one of our M-F Four-Year-Old classes. Mrs. Eaken is an Ohio native where she earned her B.A. in communications from Mount Union College. She has also studied Elementary Education at Virginia Wesleyan College where she earned her Pre-K - 6th Teaching Credentials (with a Meritorious Teacher designation) and she also taught four-year-olds at a local preschool.
Mrs. Eaken has been married to her husband, Shawn, and living in Chesapeake for 15 years. She has three children ( two boys and one girl- ages 12, 7 & 5 ), one dog and one cat. In her free time, she serves on her local PTA board, volunteers with her children's Scout troop/pack, enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
teaches our T/Thurs Two-Year-Old class and our MWF Three-Year-Old class. She is originally from Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Moore has a Career Studies Certificate in Child Development from Tidewater Community College. She has worked for four years at the faith-based Deep Creek Academy and as a substitute teacher for Norfolk Public Schools. Working with young children is a true passion for her, and teaching children during the first five years of development brings her the most satisfaction. Mrs. Moore is married with two children—a boy and girl. In her spare time, she enjoys a good book and spending time with her family.
teaches our M-F Three-Year-Old class. Mrs. Bardeen has her BS degree in Child Psychology as well as an MBA. She is married with three children and lives in Virginia Beach. She loves working with children of all ages; however, she likes the preschool age the most. Most recently she worked at Rainbow Preschool in Virginia Beach. In addition to teaching, she also coaches ice skating. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and ice skating.
is an MWF Two-Year-Old class teacher. Mrs. Leung is currently pursuing a degree in an educational field and has previously been the owner and operator of a Home Childcare Business. She enjoys teaching young children while providing a safe and loving environment.
Mrs. Leung is married and has a six-year-old son and two adult step-children. She enjoys singing, time outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
teaches our T/Thurs Two -Year- Old class. Though born in Killen, Texas on an Army base in Fort Hood, she has been a Virginia local most of her life. She earned her B.S. of Psychology at Regent University and also studied General Education at Old Dominion University. She has several years experience working within preschools and has a passion for teaching our youth. She has been a volunteer in activities such as being a Girl Scout Leader, Vacation Bible School Leader, and an AWANA Leader. She has been married for over 16 years to her husband Chris and has three daughters ages, 14, 12, and 8. In her spare time, she loves to read, play her guitar, sing, bake and spend time with her family.
