is our Day School Director. Mrs. Harrison is very excited to be a part of the Educational Ministry Team at EEDS! A native of Norfolk, she is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Speech Communication. She came to EEDS after serving for 19 years as the Director and Pre-K four-year-old teacher at a local preschool. She is passionate that a child’s first school experience should be a positive one where the child feels loved, successful, engaged and that “school is a good place to be.”
Mrs. Harrison and her husband have two married daughters, twin grandsons, and 3 golden retrieve grand-dogs.
In her spare time, Mrs. Harrison enjoys gardening, traveling, cooking, and entertaining family and friends in her home. She is looking forward to partnering with you in the education of your preschooler.
is the classroom aide for EEDS. Mary moved to Virginia from Pennsylvania five years ago. She has been married to an active duty sailor for ten years and has two children, 7 and 5, and two rescue dogs. She holds two Associate Degrees from Butler County Community College. Mary is an active PTA member, avid crafter, and passionate reader but most of all enjoys spending time with her family.
teaches one of our M-F Four-Year-Old classes. Mrs. Atkinson is originally from Texas and has lived in Chesapeake, VA for the last twenty-five years. She studied at The University of Texas and Western Washington University where she received a B.A. in Elementary Education. She has completed post-graduate work in the areas of speech, language development and reading. Mrs. Atkinson has experience teaching preschool through fourth grade. Most recently, she served for 14 years as the lead three-year-old teacher at a local preschool.
Mrs. Atkinson has been married to her husband, Gary, for 39 years. They settled in the Hampton Roads area after he retired from his career as a naval aviator. They have two married daughters and three young grand-daughters. In addition, Mrs. Atkinson is a nationally rated gymnastics judge for USA Gymnastics. When not teaching or judging gymnastics, she enjoys spending time with her family in the Catskill Mountains.
teaches one of our M-F Four-Year-Old classes. Mrs. Eaken is an Ohio native where she earned her B.A. in communications from Mount Union College. She has also studied Elementary Education at Virginia Wesleyan College where she earned her Pre-K - 6th Teaching Credentials (with a Meritorious Teacher designation) and she also taught four-year-olds at a local preschool.
Mrs. Eaken has been married to her husband, Shawn, and living in Chesapeake for 16 years. She has three children ( two boys and one girl- ages 12, 7 & 5 ), one dog and one cat. In her free time, she serves on her local PTA board, volunteers with her children's Scout troop/pack, enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
is the Monday/Wednesday/Friday Four-Year-Old teacher. Miss Shedd earned her Elementary Education degree from Regent University and has worked as a permanent substitute in Chesapeake and 4th grade teacher in Virginia Beach. She has been a dance teacher for almost 8 years and is involved in coaching the studio's dance competition team. The oldest of 8 children, she has countless experiences with young children including her younger siblings and babysitting/nannying opportunities. She is recently engaged to the love of her life and will be getting married and relocating at the end of this school year. Olivia loves working with young students and seeing the ways God's love is shown to them through a genuine, caring education as well as learning from their child-like faith! Olivia believes working at EEDS is an amazing opportunity and is honored to work alongside such a wonderful staff.
teaches our M-F Three-Year-Old class. Mrs. Bardeen has her BS degree in Child Psychology as well as an MBA. She is married with three children and lives in Virginia Beach. She loves working with children of all ages; however, she likes the preschool age the most. Most recently she worked at Rainbow Preschool in Virginia Beach. In addition to teaching, she also coaches ice skating. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and ice skating.
teaches our M-W-F Three-Year-Old class and the Tu-Th Two-Year-Old class. Mrs. Keyser was born and raised in Omaha, NE (GO BIG RED!) where she graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in Elementary Education and minor in Psychology.
While in college she specialized in Early Childhood Education and has worked as a preschool and kindergarten teacher in the past.
Mrs. Keyser has been married to her husband, Alex, for six years and has two small boys and a dog. When she is not teaching she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, being outside, working out, reading books, and taking care of her plants. She looks forward to teaching your child and instilling a love of learning in them!
